Classic mustang vs Jeep wrangler question

As always everyone knows a mustang driver who thinks he is hot s**t, execpt this idiot goes around asking to race for pink slips. No he has not won any so far.

My question is do you think my 4.2L 1988 yj with 31's and stock gearing could beat his 1992 stang with a 2.3L in it(im assuming is a v6)

input is appreciated,im just tempted to embarress him for his own good

Haha the 2.3 is a 4 banger with only 105 horsepower. I don't know who would win though but he is dumb for thinking he has a fast car.

If it was on dirt, snow, ice, etc, I would put my money on you though

First off, a 1992 model mustang is hardly considered "classic" yet.

And second, you will lose, fairly easily. The YJ with a 4.2 is far from fast, and it's quite heavy, too. Add 31's on it and it's even slower. You may hang off the line for maybe 100ft but you will soon see him pulling away from you.

Tell him I'll happily race for pinks. But it won't be in my Jeep, it'll be in my old two door chevy.

I'll given two car lengths head start

Name the time and place

She's not all looks either, got a little bite under the hood. Dyno'd at 550hp to the rear wheels, before the nitros. Being that I'm young (21) it does draw a fair amount of ricer attention. But don't get me wrong, it's a blast to blow the doors off of a civic

Also, it's built not bought. I rebuilt it from the frame up starting when I was 16. Right now it's in the "sorta complete" phase, much like the rigs on here it will never be finished. And now that I have a project Jeep too I do believe my sanity is in question.

Nice camaro! But spray that is for people who cant build motors. Just my opinion. But 550 at the wheels without spray is nice!

Totally agree, it was the last thing I did, the kit was given to me by a family friend with the best intentions, and I was bored, so I figured what the hell. I also used the windshield spray switch as my switch for the shot. Keeps the interior clean, no silly red buttons on the steering wheel. I just have to remember to fill the next owner, or anyone else who drives it, in on that mod . If I had the resources/time I'd go forced induction of some kind, when I rebuilt the engine I built it with the intention of eventually doing that. But a part of me thinks a blower would ruin the lines of the car.

I had an 87 4-banger back in the day. It would outrun a stock 5.0 though I had it running hot on the 'sauce'. Eventually dropped in a heavily modded 5.0. Miss that old fox body. So never race anyone, ever, especially for pinks, unless you really know what's under the hood without question and every detail.

I defineatly would not put a blower in that. I would ruin the lines of the car. Very nice ride the way it is.

thats a pretty clueless and ignorant statement. and you've obviosly never spent anytime in a machine shop to know what it takes to build a good spray motor

hp per dollar you cant beat nitrous.

but if you're one of those "all throttle no bottle" morons, the go ahead and continue to enjoy the slow lane.

...just my opinion...
