Another thumbs up on the intake. Eric's XJ has moved his intake as well. Both look good and both say it is fairly loud. I have no radio so I wonder if it would drive me crazy hearing it.

89 XJ w4.0 / I6 / 5 speed with a 3 RC lift. Abused by previous owner. 15 inch rims wrapped with 30X11.50 TSLs, KC daylighters and rusted out rockers. My first Jeep, bought it in Feb 2012.

Maybe I'll do a video of the intake noise from in the cabin so people have a better idea what they'll hear if they go this route. Since mine is not a daily driver, I can put up with it. Plus my stereo is loud enough to drown it out. I'd recommend a radio if you go with a cowl intake

Honestly once I saw that intake on this thread, I put it on my wishlist of stuff to buy. There's also a $20 mail in rebate for it atm too.
Thanks Dudes. I did some searching after I posted this and found it on Summit and Quadratec. Unfortunately I cannot find it on any sites that dont charge like and arm and a leg to get it to Canada? $48.00 shipping and estimated $32.00 duty for a grand total of (barfed in my mouth a little) $80.00 to get it to me!

Looks awesome installed as per GTiKyle's photos, thanks for the details! Will order, ship it to mom in Tacoma and get my tank skid, meet up with Phillip and pick this up at the same time!

You can ship stuff here, too. I'll even test-fit and take pics for ya.

I've been looking to do a cowl intake one of these days, too. Not only to alleviate some of the dust-sucking that goes on during those dry summer trail runs (I always seem to get stuck at the back of convoys) but to make way for a secondary battery up front, too. Are they all noisy just due to the location?

Basically yes. The sound resonates in the cab because your heater/AC pulls from that same area. So it sounds like the intake is pulling from in your glove box. Lol I'll give you a test ride in my rig before you make that choice Phillip, give you an idea of what to expect.

Noise? Who cares. IMO few things sound as mean as the ole 4.0 sucking hard when you flatten the skinny pedal. I WANT.

Between my Flowmaster Super 44 and stereo, I'm not really too worried about some whooshing going on behind the dash. Just can't decide if I want to piece a cowl intake together myself or shell out for something in a box.

Though I am actually considering this mod, but with a bit bigger or a register. I assume you used 3x10" registers? I was thinking of the black 4x10" register.

Do you think with the "wide open" vents, that rain/snow may be a problem? Or is that just a common mislead thought?
