I guess mine was special. Had it for 7 years and 130k and it never made any funny noises and it got decent gas mileage, at least compared to my TJ and Tacoma. And those seem to be the top two YKYDaXJW stories.

I'm curious how you turn off the head lamps while taking your phone out of your pocket? And turning on the lights with the top of your head.

...when you fit your whole dorm room in the back of it.
...when your dorm room is in it and all the squeaks go away.
...when you get ~260 miles and still have a 1/4 tank you're super happy (not bad for 33s!)
...when driving in rain you have the window down and stay dry.
...when driving in rain your floor gets soaked... Idk where its getting in at?!
...when you have changed 5 wheel bearings, 5 u joints, and lots of other stuff in under a week lol

I think that's were its coming in. Thing is though it shouldn't be wet under the hood when going 65 in the rain?

Mine would come in right here by the windshield and run down a wire to the wrap that goes through firewall. Whoever installed the alarm just cut a big hole in the plug (bought it in Nevada, not really worried about rain there) so the water ran right down the wires then would drip on the floor board. Not sure about driving, the first time it rained hard when I got in there was an inch of water on the mat, I figured it out and fixed it right away. Just through some sealant in the plug

I don't quite remember where the headlight switch was on my dad's old XJ, but on my 00' the switch was a plunger that sat about two inches above my left knee. Similar to the TJ's of the era, but lower and even easier to accidentally push back in with your knee while trying to get your phone out of your pocket on a dark night on a road with a lot of corners with one hand stuck in your pocket.

As for turning on my nav lights with my head. I would just climb in head first and hit the light. Sometimes I felt it (I used to wear hats back then) and sometimes I heard the click, but not always. It didn't happen every time I got in, that was hyperbole. But on at least two occasions I killed my battery by doing that and then having it sit for a couple days.

Yea the roof was my first attempt too but i forgot about it and had to take it off in the middle of the street to get into the parking garage at school so that was out. Plus i did seem to be taking out branches left and right on trails with it.
