close call this weekend

Went out to my local spot and was checking out the bumpstops I added and decided to go through this narrow spot all the quads go thru.
I made it thru the first part okay but the second part was going to be a little tricky
because of a tree and a 3ft bank on the left and a 30ft drop-off on the right.

I knew it would be tight so I got lined up,(or so I thought ) and proceeded
forward when I felt my right front drop down.Well,I knew what I had done,
my tire went off the ledge,Oh sh*t,so I back up got out and looked it over and decided to try again. Second time I eased forward and felt the tire drop again this time she dropped more. Pucker factor was at it's all time high now.So I backed up and got the tire back on the ground, got out looked it over again.

Third attempt I hugged as close to the left as I could, scraped the tree a little,
rode up on the bank which leaned me toward the cliff side but I made it.
My dogs were with me as well. Had we went over the edge it would have been a straight fall for about 30 ft. It was a very close call but worth the rush, but I'm thankful as well.
Here are the pics, pay no mind to the dog peeing I did not know he was going to the bathroom. Must have scared it out of him

nice pics ARFINSD, but you need some help with the brake lines bro! hey just drill the frame and run your bolt in it. it kinda self taps if you get the hole the right size. and go to a u-pull it and get some front lines of a 90's (tj-yj?). (can't remember) the metal portion is about 4" longer than ours. thats what i did, with a 3.5 RE. never had a prob.

Well, winter is clearly gone for a while, and it's pretty much normal autumn weather -> lots of mud, lots of winching..

Sorry I couldn't post pics directly for some reason - you'll have to click the links

It didn't really help my situation when this Fleetside with 37" tires tried to go flat- out through this mudpit - and got stuck:

..and the result:

( )

I clearly wasn't the only one getting stuck and/ or finding deep mud:

Here are some more pics from today, this time I was the only XJ wheeling in that area. But if you wanna look at a few Toyotas, ex. Swedish army (do they have one ) Volvos etc. go ahead and check the link. It really was wet and muddy this time:

Oh btw., if you get stuck in 3 foot deep mud, don't try towing from the factory front "tow hook". It really doesn't hold up that well

I actually was pretty sure it would get ripped out on the first deep rut, but it didn't. Instead, it did survive that long mudpit - it now looks like this (and it's twisted in other direction as well):

Nate, don't you think a run before Christmas or between Christmas and New Years would be good? I might have some new equipment installed by then to test out.

03 Rubicon; 99 xj with too much stuff to list; Unimog 406 (gone)
