You might wanna think about getting some rocker guards. They'll cost you alot less than $1500. A little late for that one side though.

yeah, i was wanting them before that happened......kinda sux....but i've got a body man who owes me a favor, he said he'll fix it (new mopar rocker) for $500 plus materials, i've got the hook up on mopar and chevy parts, so the rocker cost me $75 new, and it'll be about $150 for paint, primer, and all that jazz......i hate body work, so its worth it to me.....

That's why your usually not supposed to use the brakes going downhill while wheeling Engine braking is the way to go, if needed use 4lo and select 1st gear..

Why not just cutting away both rockers about 1" below doors, and replacing that thin sheetmetal crap with something like 5" x 2" stock (or whatever you can get around that size)? 3/16" wall thickness should be enough.. It's a LOT cheaper than 500$, looks good and doubles as rock sliders at the same time

i wasn't on the brakes, i was in 4lo 1st gear.....and i kinda like the rockers and have talked to some guys locally that have put in a bar below the rockers, and they've all said they wish they hadn't done it......plus a buddy of mines got an awsome set of slider/rock bars on his xj that i'm gonna mimic when i build mine, he's hit those things hard and never bent anything....

I quit doing that when I was in 4 lo going down a steep muddy hill. The Jeep wanted to go faster than the wheels, and it almost pitched me sideways. I threw it in neutral and coasted down using my brakes instead.

Not always a nono.....

Here are a few pics from Great Lakes XJ's Winter Wheeling Fest at Haspin.

White XJ is mine, and the gray XJ is my girl.

Um, I would appreciate it if you guys would not talk about my sister like that. I posted a pic of my sister simply because she came along during that trip and had fun. I expected fellow jeepforum members to have a little more respect for each other's family members than that.
