I'm curious to see what people have done to customize their XJ's interior. Things like toggle switches, gauges, etc. I know there is always someone who has painted their cluster bezel or covered it with carbon fiber or wood grain stickers, but I want to see functional things. Where do you put all your stuff? And a couple solid ideas about at least one cup holder would be cool. HAHA!
My main switch panel, the rock light switch has been swapped to turn on my aux rear lights.
This is kind of a crappy pic, but this is the new control box for the LED rock lights.
In cab winch control.
My storage system.
I can't find the pics, but I have my CB mounted to the roof. I also built my own heavy duty rear view mirror mount because I kept breaking the regular mounts.
i'm new to the jeep scene, and very out of the box, and so i went with a two tone silver and black suede with plaid on my interior, headliner, door panels, steering wheel and shift knob, what do you guys think?

Inastsalling an inclinometer from a mitsubishi montero in the dash of my xj, along with enough power points to power a small house, and a power inverter for the laptop.
Hey man, that double DIN Pioneer looks excellent in there. I thought about that, but then just popped for a single DIN and saved the work for another mod maybe.
Question, what did you use to mold that in, fiberglass? Epoxy or some Bondo/body filler? Nice job BTW, would like to see some well lit higher rez shots. I wanted to build a Carputer and load a touch screen in there, just never got around to it.
I painted it originally with the mopar agate interior paint and it looked great at first. After a little offroading the paint cracked in one spot. It still looks good, but I'm probably going to paint the bezel red. I will try and get some higher resolution pictures of it if I get the time.
Maybe "mod" is a loose term? I'm piece by piece replacing the cracked and stained pieces of the front cabin of my 93 country. Waiting for the mail for my seat-back adjuster and knee bolster section (ash tray too) and then all I need is a console lid (which I can't find anywhere in "sand" color). When its all done I'll wash the seat belts and enjoy it looking like this 17 year old jeep was just driven off the lot.
Yep. Depending on the part the dealers have them listed as tan/beige/camel/sand.
I have a lid but its in mediocre shape. I can clean them up OK, but just want one that isn't surface damaged. The one I have looks like it got stained and then they tried cleaning it with a wire brush right next to where it was melted by setting down the cigarette lighter.
No lots around here have them in my color and in any better shape that what I have - any help would really be appreciated.
I've never gone part hunting at lots and yards before this project - its frustrating to ask them if they have a jeep in a color and just be told I can come down (dozens of miles away) and look.
Very excited! Just got my Jeep about a week ago. I threw in my old aftermarket radio, and then I inserted my ipod touch into an opening that didn't have anything but a panel that I took out.
Thanks. I'm sorta surprised I haven't seen more uses for that hole. Does it serve a purpose in later models? I would like to make a mount inside so it's not just sitting in there.
How do you guys with 1997+ have your stereo decks mounted? I grabbed a bezel kit for my new Sony DSX100
And it didn't even occur to me (dur) that the deck itself wasn't fastened to anything, and nearly came tumbling out on a steep incline. Not to mention it's only 2 screws holding that bezel dash kit so it flexes on the 2 corners without screws. Not happy about that, makes it seem even easier to steal.
