Walmart sells adapters. That's the cheapest fix.

Thanks I ended up doing that... Only after I cut apart the dashboard bezel and removed the AC controls did I realize the air tubing blocks the radio from fitting correctly

You have to tuck the wiring everywhere you can cuz the hole leaves no room for play.

Where did you get the material for the rear window racks? I've been trying to find some for a week or so. Does anyone else know what else I could use for that or where to get that sort of metal?

They're actually drawers out of a broken futon someone threw out of the dorms move out weekend. Dumpster dived for the win. I just cut them to fit. They had little metal tabs on them to screw into. Worked perfectly. But if you're looking for similar material look in the gardening or fencing section of Walmart or a farm store. The stuff comes in rolls.

So stoked this thread is still live. Has anyone ever tried removing the passenger airbag from a 97+ XJ and turned the space in to extra storage?

Storage space is valuable, but not more so than my passengers.

Not to mention it could possibly deploy while removing it, and break your neck.

It will be alright... The easiest way is with a pry bar (a big one at that.) It will seem tough at first, but just keep trying until it pops out.

X100

Maybe if it was a complete beater trail rig that has to be trailered because its not street legal and has a full cage and 5 point harnesses.

Yes, obviously removing the passenger airbag would reduce the protection of a passenger in the event of a collision that would have resulted in the deployment of the airbag...

And I feel like these initial responses are a little over the top? Were all jeeps made before the mid nineties devoid of passenger (and driver) airbags? We all lived through those years, and still drive (and love) those rigs...
