xj bodylines ??

I have a 92 with the fiperglass hatch . I heard the 98 and newer (I believe that's the yr.) have metal hatches .,.
will the body lines match up . and will it be a direct bolt in .
also the front grill will a newer 1 bolt up

I know the newer ones are a little more rounded around the edges wheres mine is square
not sure what body yrs are interchangeable
sorry this is my first jeep....please bear with me if I sound stupid , im counting pennies with my budget n don't want to waste money if it wont fit...

They wont swap without quite a bit of work. Different hinges (external vs internal), different shape, different tail lights, ect. Far from a bolt on mod.

It's entirely possible since it's metal, but the OP is trying to save money.

Also, as for the grill, no, it's not a straight swap. You'd have to replace all the body panels from the fenders forward and the holes don't quite line up, but they can be swapped out relatively easily if you're not afraid of drilling a few holes.
