i bought my xjs because when i was growing up my father bought a 87 4x4 brand new. i was in love with that thing. it was unstoppable. nothing major ever went wrong with it. my older brother bought it from my dad and drove the piss out of it for a few years then sold it at 400k miles. i wanted that so i bought one of my own

Going through a divorce and needed a affordable vehicle, it was either this or a older accord or something that would not do well off road. This was perfect

My family (dad's side) has always had jeeps. All the way from the original Military Jeep days. My dads dad had a black 85 Grand Waggy which was given to my father when he died. My dad drove it until about 2003 when he got hit upfront turning onto the interstate. Damaged the body work, but now sits in the back along side our maroon 87(right year??) grand waggy. That one got t-boned really bad. Bent the frame. Totalled

Mom got pissed and blew the 360 in the black one shortly after she totalled the maroon one. Dad pulled the engine from it and put the good one still in the maroon in the black one. Still runs, just needs a tune up.

My dad's dad had an old J10 for a long time. Would probably still run (been sitting for 15 years) if it had some work done. We had a lot of AMC's for a while now and thats what has settled our family on jeeps/amcs. We have two amx's with perfect bodies and no motors.

The xj was originally my sisters after we bought it from the original owner sometime in 2001. Has had some wierd stalling problems but a new distributor cap fixed all that stuff. Hasn't given me any problems since I started driving it ( a year ago). I love the thing. 390k miles later and I plan on driving it until it falls to the ground.

The reason I got my first XJ ('90 Limited) was because I grew up riding in the backseat of my dad's '87 limited which he sold and I always loved cherokees. He sold the '87 before I was able to drive. I then fixed up/partially restored the '90 as almost a tribute to the one I grew up riding in. It then got hit by a snowplow that lost control exactly a year and 3 days after I bought it. Thankfully it was parked and I wasnt in it. I then got stuck driving around my grama's old car until I bought my last XJ (the '00 sport). I bought that one because I liked XJs so much. I only had the '00 5 months before it got hit and totaled...I was devastated...but the paramedics told me if I wasn't in a jeep I would have been in very bad shape. The fact that I walked away from that accident practically scratchless is why i'm buying a 3rd XJ oh...and that feeling you get when you pass all the cars in a snowstorm going up a hill or get some hot chicks number because you are "the nice guy with the jeep who pulled me out of the snowbank"

You can run WD-40 in a Jeep 4.0 and still get 200k miles out of it.

i was thinking about getting a small 4X4 for a while and every time i asked somebody how they liked their jeep not one person ever was unenthusiastic they all loved it. Not so with blazers, exploders, pathfinders and stuff got good feedback on 4runners though but nothing compared to XJ. But the number one thing that made me buy one was watching videos on utube it was amazing seeing what nearly stock XJ'S were doing

I've been a Jeep freak since the age of 14. I used to go to the local dealer and pick up brochures and look at all the Jeeps on the lot. I did look at other 4 door 4X4's back in '89 but nothing compared to the XJ. Comfort, ride quality, handling, acceleration, turning circle, visibility, fast ratio steering, the XJ had it all.

wanted a simple, reliable, takes anything you throw at it 4x4. was looking at pick-ups but wanted enough room and a place to sleep that could stay just as warm as the cab and was comfy for two. year and a half later and its still serving its purpose except for the fact that its in a buddy's garage on jacks with a blown rear end right now but that was my fault..hah

I was driving an Eclipse and lost a job last year & the car unfortunately.
I got my income tax money and the stimulus check they had, and finally went out and bought my first Jeep. I have wanted one since I first saw one stiing on 35's with big lift.
Paid cash for the Cherokee and got home to find a LOT of things wrong with it.
I cant believe I was able to put 5K miles on it and survive some cold weather before doing my lift and all the fixing Ive been up to.

Red 1990 Cherokee 2dr 4X4 6.5 lift
SYE & rear shaft
35x12.5x15
15x10.5 ProComps
I need something besides tan uglified interior though

Because the straight six is a freakin STUD.

Also because I owned a TJ, and the one thing I learned. TJ's can go pretty much anywhere, but you just can't take shiiite with ya. So I added an XJ, to go camping, and whatnot. Then sold the TJ. Now the modded XJ is perfect for me. Can keep up with my buddies TJ's all day.
