I got mine because after struggling through two Maine winters with rear wheel driven vehicles I decided it was time to get me a Jeep. I had driven my brother's XJ a few years ago and couldn't wait to get one. Found one that I wanted for $3200 and jumped on it.

So I browsed Uncle Henrys (buy/sell magazine in Maine) and after a month or so of looking I found a simple add that read no more than "1996 Jeep Cherokee, 188,000 miles runs great. I have a new vehicle and don't need it anymore. $1,000 firm" No picture, but for some reason it felt right, so I followed up and bought it a week later. Greatest Jeep a $1000 can buy. And I love it like it was worth $50,000.

Lived on the Navajo Reservation and had to travel through their road system. Unpaved and unkept. Needed something to handle all the mud on a daily basis.

wife needed new vehicle and ended up with an astro to replace a grand caravan, she decided after a couple of months she didn't want a rear drive for winter and wanted fwd or 4x4,needed to get the balance back to 3 mopars and one generic motors
only thing we could afford and had at used car lot we bought the astro from, they hadn't even put it on the lot yet when i road tested it. only vehicle that everyone in the house loves. they all claim it after we get a grand cherokee to replace it,i get first dibs i need to get to work no matter what the wheather so the plows can keep moving, willing to give up 30 mpg and drive the XJ as a dd. the best part is the wife understands ![]() |

I got one because my first car it was a 89 cherokee I took for granted and abused. once it was gone i realized what i really had and it made me want another so 3 years later i finally had the money for another.
