What kind of MPG's do you get out of your cherokee?

I have a 99 sport with the 4.0.

Im only getting about 12 mpg which is slightly shocking to me.

It runs smooth and drives good, all is stock.

I just replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

I doubt thats going to help a lot with mileage though.

I think I may thrown in 2 new O2 sensors and see what that does.

No check engine light and 85 precent of the driving was in town.

I was thinking it ought to get a lot better mpg than 12 in town...............

what do you get?

If u have a heavy foot that sounds about right.

I just filled up and got 19.4. And I have 32s and 3.55s but I also think I put twenty in Sunday which woulddrop it down to 16mpg. Which is what I average. I can't complain at all. 33s with 3.55s and 16mpg. Not to bad if u ask me

I'm getting about 13 with 31's and 3.55's, but then again I have a heavy foot. If you're looking for mileage than you shouldn't drive a Jeep lol

Im going from a 90 suburban to a 99 cherokee so that should be a noticable upgrade in MPG.

I should be getting around 15 or better in town......................

I'm going to see what this tune up does for me and go from there.

Kinda did the tune up mid tank of gas.

I am also going to run a bottle of techron to try and clean stuff up a bit as this jeep has been sitting for some time.

If still no improvement, Im going to change the O2 sensors and Clean the intake......

I would say its running lean or something, maybe an O2 sensor. I am getting about similar mielage as you (13-13.5) on my 01 over the past several months, and I know my plugs and filter and all that are good also, and it runs great. You should be doing better than 12 for sure. I used to get 17 with 70% city/town driving.
Its depressing, lol.

25 on the highway and 17 in the city. Much, much worse than that if I use 4x4.
