you can't cut off the cast mounts. they are hollow and there is no tube below them. you have to run the Ford radius arms

Haha, I understand now. Yea, this is a F250 axle, it doesn't have the cast trailing arm mounts. It had leaf springs and steel spring perches that get cut off along with all the shock and sway bar mounts.

I hate to see it but the end of wheeling season is fast approaching. It snowed in the mountains above my house yesterday. Some of the trails we were on this past Tuesday got snowed on yesterday. the snow won't stick for another 4-6 weeks but I think we are looking at only another 4 weeks of wheeling and then it will be time to start making upgrades and repairs.

Don't give up on looking for a '77.5-'79 F250 HP 44. They are around it's just that most junk yards don't realize they have one. Maybe the F250 44 is to wide for what you want to do but it makes a great platform for building a nice Jeep front axle.

Well that would be a disappointment. This is new territory to me. What donor(s) would not have that? Ideally I want the 5 lug, high pinion, with disk brakes, and hopefully 4.10s or better.

I have a set of 4.10s for the 8.8 already, but it wouldn't break my heart to buy a new set of something else to match the front.

Here is a link to quite a bit of Dana 44 info. Look through some of the pages and you will see the xale you don't and do want to search for.

Well. Even if you find an 8 lug, you can swap 5 lug stuff onto it

Is it as easy as swapping shafts? I have seen some 8 lugs already. One passenger drop, not that it would be of any use... Is there a big difference in track widths between years and whatnot?

You need knuckles spindles, calipers, brackets, rotors, and hubs. Most of it is easy to find in a Junkyard
