Yea, most younger people that come in here talking about axle swaps usually never end up doing anything, but you've got the damn thing back on the ground before I knew what was up! Nice work!

Went to take my doors off for #toplesstuesday and my battery light came on again so I hooked up the multi meter and my alt only puts out 11.1v so I guess it's bad AND I know what I am doing today.

Nice looking young man you have there. Keep him in the shop with you and he'll learn lessons now that you will never be able to teach him later. He may misplace, lose or throw away a tool now and again but never fret, in the end it will be money well spent to have him by your side learning the skills of a good mechanic. You just can't put a price on that.

Today I changed the alternator, accessory belt and battery cables. I was reading 11.1v even though the alt tested fine but I knew it was bad, decided since the belt and cables were old and off to just replace them as well.

Then I drove around doorless cuz #toplesstuesday and I have wrangler envy. Also got caught in the rain with no doors on, such is jeep life

This past weekend

Well I just bought my first XJ and spent most of saturday going through it to see what needed to be fixed/ changed before a road trip next month.

We welded the seat bracket since it was broken on the back right corner.

found my air intake box and filter had oil in it, the vacuum hose to the air box was caked solid with dried oil and gunk (had to run rebar through it).

So I ordered(should be here wednesday):
- Emission hose and valve cover grommet
- front and rear vacuum harness
- new oil fill cap
- valve cover gasket

bought:
- oil and oil filter

Replaced the air filter with a cheapy one until i get the issue fixed.

Still need to go through the front end and check bushings, steering, and suspension components and need to find window seals.

Installed my steering wheel wrap

3/8th" ...is it some kind of fiber, or foam ...
I originally wanted o use tht stuff with the black kind of tar-y back.
