I did this. Its an old ford truck/van mirror and mount, a magnet w/ hook, small turnbuckle, ~8in of 3/8in threaded rod, and a wingnut. The door hinge pin keeps the top of it mounted, and the threaded rod connects to the lower hinge. The magnet allows it to pop off and fold into the door opening if its hit while moving forward, and keeps it from folding back at highway speeds. takes about 45 seconds to put on and take off.

Also if there is a Fastenal in town they should have or be able to get the pins you're looking for.
I was actually thinking some sort of motorcycle mirror myself. Either attach it to the hinge or on a small bracket between the good and fender.

Bar end mirrors might work. They're real small though, like 2.5in dia.

I know Ninja 250 OEM mirrors would work too, they attach with a single bolt, are a decent size, and look vaguely like the OEM jeep mirrors, i have a set somewhere. There are tons of bike mirrors that could work.

I finally took mine off for the summer yesterday. Kept going to since it's been so hot but every time I'd check the weather they'd be forecasting HUGE storms that were supposed to last weeks. I wouldn't normally care but the XJ is my DD for a while while my pickups out of commission. I've been trying to find some YJ soft doors on craigslist just to keep in the back so I can throw them on if it rains but haven't had any such luck.

Hope you bought the most expensive thing for your jeep, because now you are going to be monitored! Congrats!

Nah I love my Jeep but it would go away before she does. It's just a toy.
