I got my new Champion 3 core radiator installed yesterday. It was nice to be able to bond with the Jeep, it's been a while. The installation went pretty smooth, it is a well designed radiator. I also changed the thermostat and flushed the cooling system. I just need an excuse to drive it for a while to test the cooling capabilities now.

One of those vinyl wheel covers , like :

would do as much or more wind deflecting and even look better . Might even look good enough to leave the spare up there .

That's a good thought. I could stitch that myself, make it water proof, and make it visually custom.

You need some diamond plate pattern fabric! That would be awesome!

We'll see. I'm still trying to work on the tire retainer.

Got a set of WJ knuckles for crossover steering swap. None of the brakes they had in the yard looked good though, so I'll just get new when the time comes.

Jeep doesn't seem to be loosing coolant either, so I guess I can count that as a win for now.

I was also able to get the broken cross pin retaining bolt out of the 8.8 with an extractor :whew: and did a little more grinding on the tubes. Just needs some more rust taken off and all the internals re-assembled.

I finally tightened the flywheel bolts this afternoon . The XJ was sounding like it could come apart any minute . Now , nary a noise .

Thanks to all that pointed me in the right direction and advised what had to be done .

And , Thanks to those that offered other suggestions as possibilities .
