Thanks for the suggestion man. The prices I found weren't bad at all. Probably worth a few extra bucks to not have to make it all myself. Then again, I like making it myself lol.

Ordered my Ruffstuff 8.8 swap kit this morning. One step on a long path I guess. After looking at SFRs build and seeing my Jeep in the yard this afternoon 32s and leaf springs seem stupid.

If you can get 100k/yr in the trades I'd say go for gold! Only electrical work around here is non-union, and we are around 35k/yr. Pretty embarrassing considering lives depend on us doing the job right!

Started on my half doors today.

Bummer the app posted a couple pages back isn't working for me. Got some pics to post of the doors and weekend maintenance. I'm going to try it again in a few minutes.

I dont really have any good pics for comparison sake, but it has proved to be a very worthwhile upgrade. This should be priority #1 on any stock XJ someone is looking to mod. Ive heard ppl say that over and over but its true. Already one of my favorite mods. Before this I had to rely on aux lighting to see at night but not anymore.

Yippee!!! My pics loaded!!!

I still need to weld in the "caps" where the backs and fronts are where I cut both sides of the door, as well as fab up a latch handle to open the doors. For now I just push on the mechanism with my finger.

I saw my d/s engine mount is trashed, Oh and my Manifold is cracked also.

Thus next Saturday I will be replaced both engine mounts with the 2 I've had sitting on my work bench for about 6 months . I should have replaced them when I did the trans mount . I also have to start saving for a header now also. APN, AFE, or Banks .............

Pulled a manifold off of a buried 4.0 to replace my cracked one. I need to go get some gaskets. It will be installed before this weekend. Hopefully. imageuploadedbyag-free1368419606.973874.jpg

That's sweet! I love the idea of having a stock unit. I may be pickin' up a parts Jeep here real soon.

As for as a mechanism to open the doors.
1. Leave yourself an access panel.
2. Put a piece of tie wire, or braided, on the latch.
3. Drill a hole in your cover plate inline with the wire. Use a heavy gauge rivet that will line the hole. Drill it out with a smaller bit and feed the wire through.
4. Make a loop and twist on a key ring.
