What alternators are you guys using?

So the OEM alternator in my 94 XJ is on its last legs and its time to replace it. Not a bad run to be honest.

What are you guys running in your XJ's, and what do you suggest? I'd love to get a Mean-Green but i really dont want to spend that much on an alternator, and I also don't want to be a piece of crap.

Im not running a winch, I will be running lights in the future, and most of my wheeling involves water crossings.

I gave in and bought the mean green. What a pain in the A** to install. I had to take the bolts off the motor mount and jack to motor up for it to squeez in.(even after romoving the battery and tray) Then it was too big and hit the mounting bracket. so I had to pull it back out and try to fit a grinder down there to take the bracket down. It took about 4 hrs to get it installed

Stock alternator will be fine for a couple lights wired corretley. I don't know if its the same for a 94, but on my 98 I replaced the toasted stock alternator with one from a grand cherokee, I think it was like 120 amp output or somthing, required grinding the bracket to fit but everything "pluged in".

There's a way to get a 5.9 Durango alt to fit (just some grinding apparently). Puts out 160 amps or so. It may have only come on a certain package
