20. i have a theory. XJs are cheaper than wronglers, younger folk like myself cant afford shiny new toys. but Ill be honest i would totally buy an LJ, but thats the only wrangler i would get, the new ones look too roundish. Not even a TJ, i hate driving a short wheelbase..

Now, if JeepForum would only add an age filter so I can read the posts of my peers and elders and not their kids...

No offense.

The newer jeeps all look like cars, not rugged off-road ready monsters like the XJ

I'm old enough to be the grandfather of the most of you guys (61 this year), but I just love my XJ. I've owned it for 9 years and I'll never get rid of it. I also have a Nissan Navara (Frontier in the US), but the XJ is a lot more funny to drive both on and off road.

I picked up my xj simply for the practicality of it. I have a girlfriend and a dog who both like to go camping, so the xj was a right choice for me. If I were single maybe I'd go for a different model....but I like my xj

"camping" you can't "camp" in a wrangler!

Sure you can! My Uncle did in his. But he did have to bring a little trailer behind him to hold the rest of the gear (for just him and his wife). But, I went camping with 3 other people and held all the gear & the kayak without a trailer. Go XJ!

Oh, and 19 here (20 in January)

Oh you can camp in a wrangler, but it'd be like trying to put 10lbs or crap in a 5lb bag. I jut went through that with my Ralliart, hence my reasoning for getting rid of it

I agree. The new Jeeps look awful. They look like a Honda and I'm an old fart and wouldn't buy one even if they do have Hemis'. Wish I had a Hemi in my WJ. Still would keep the I-6 in my XJ.

Case in point: jeep compass. Absolutely terrible in the looks department. The new grand cherokee looks like a GMC Acadia :/

42 - this is my 6th straight Jeep since I was 19. Two in the driveway now and looking for another.

If my son was on the forum he would have you all beat - I gave him the Cherokee when he was 5, but he's had to work on it with me to keep it. He's 11 now and will tell you with absolute certainty that the Jeep is his! He just helped me re-wire the fog lights and prep it for a long road trip.
