Or older people tend to have more money and can afford something newer. XJs are cheap and there are plenty of them which makes them more obtainable for younger people.

I'd be willing to bet that most of the younger people who have XJs didn't pick their first one as their first choice, but it grew on them after owning it.

I agree that's how must people my age are. Personally I've always wanted a 2 door xj so that's what I bought and would pick it over my old wrangler any day

Exactly.
I first owned a zj, and loved it but it got rusty and I wanted something newer, so I decided I wanted a LJ but really couldn't find one in my price range so I started to look into xjs which are plentiful on craigslist and in the junkyard for parts.
and I'm 21..

26 years old and first XJ, used to drive a TJ but always wanted an XJ...now I want another Wrangler. It's a viscous Jeep cycle...

I saw my first 2dr when I was in the 7th grade. Made the choice for life at that point. Coincidentally, it was the same paint scheme cuz it was also a Sport. Now I'm 40, 1 ZJ and 2 XJ's later.

I used to have a TJ, but prefer the longer wheelbase of the XJ. Aside from that, I like not being stuck with a lp30 and d35 from the factory. Oh and my beer cooler is too big for a TJ.
