I don't want to detract from the COTY Contest going on here, but the topic of themes for the monthly COTM contests continues to generate discussion. I think we've got the right audience here to seek more input and maybe it'll help keep this thread at the top of the page.

I'm buying into the themes concept so we're gonna give it some air time in 2014. The purpose of themes is to break things up a bit and get more people involved by targeting more specific categories some months. Theme categories need to stay general enough that we get good turnout though. I like to see at least five entries for a good poll.

The 2014 COTM schedule will start something like this:

January = Little Jeeps month. 3" lift and 31" tires maximum to enter. More focus on the little custom mods people do make their jeep their own, maybe even some interior pics.

February = typical COTM month, anything goes.

March = The return of March Mallcrawlin' Madness, it's a show-n-shine that's become a tradition while we're all going stir crazy waiting for spring. No size restrictions on entries but no mud or offroad pics either. Shiny paint and chrome counts more than trail damage, plus bonus respects for mall flexin pics. Sleek and sexy FTW this month.

May = typical COTM month, anything goes.

June = ?

This leaves more months available in 2014 for themed contests if we can get enough entries to keep it alive. Let's hear some more ideas. Post 'em, PM, email, or send me a letter I don't care.

Not to hijack but I get a lot of requests to have different contests for the different classes of YJ's. I cordially tell them where to shove it. Running these contests is a lot of work. Do it any way you want, Chris.

Every other month is a theme month and use more generic ideas such as "big tires, little lift" to better allow to judge discretion for accepting entries.

Themes is ok, as long as it is not over the top.

Overlander October?

Mall Crawlin March (personal fav)

Actual Wheeler August?

Frugal Build February?

Just a few I thought of.

BTT!

IMO we have a hard enough time to get more than 5 people to submit an entry WITHOUT a theme to narrow it down. I think every month should stay RunWhatchaBrung Month.

I think the problem is guys like me (and a lot of Cherokee guys are like me) their Jeeps are too ugly or too generic to enter. I mean who's going to vote for a Jeep with 3 different colored body panels, mix matched fender flares and dented and scratched body panels?
