like the title says..what was the vehicle you had before your xj?

vehicle - 1996 Chrysler Sebring JX convertible

mods - nothing really. infinity stereo system with 6 disc changer, cobra 5 stage alarm system, thats about it

background - my parents got it from some guy and they paid off his lease. it had 10,000 miles on it at the time. they had it as a weekend cruiser but after they sold the durango, it became a daily driver. ever since it had become a daily driver, i started taking care of it because at the time, i was like 10 and back then, it was like a camaro to me (had no real idea what power was all about). i washed it every week and waxed it once a month and when i was 12, started doing oil changes on it every 3k. a week before i got my license, my parents offered it to me for $2,000.

i took them up on it and payed $1,000 and said id pay the other $1,000 off in a month when i made the money (had just gotten my new job). i did and a month later, i found my jeep at the local jeep dealership and put the car on craigslist the same night i saw the jeep. sold the sebring a week after i bought the jeep. and i have no regrets. :)

pictures

to keep it xj related, im gonna work on mine tomorrow.

'87 MJ - Wrecked by a drunk driver while it was in the driveway...pic in sig.

Then my current MJ, the '88 (pic in sig as well)

Used to drive around a 2005 SRT-4...but that wasn't exactly mine, just kind of borrowed it every now and then :p

1. 1982 Chrysler LeBaron Convertable
2. 1983 GMC Sierra 1/2 Ton (I miss this one)
3. 1998 Plymouth Breeze (t-boned and totaled)
That last one getting totaled is what put me behind the wheel of my jeep. So, I guess in retrospect it was a good thing.

I got a 1994 Ford Thunderbird for my first car two weeks after my 16th birthday, no mods just a bumpin system...T-boned an F150...RIP

I then inherited my mom's 1996 Chrysler LHS, limo tinted and a bumpin system, I was mistaken for a drug dealer multiple times...Rear ended a Ranger at 65mph...RIP

I then inherited my dad's 1999 F150, no mods...spun out on a bridge and ended up halfway over the wall...RIP

I then found my XJ. When looking for my first car when I was 16, all I wanted was an XJ, but the deal on the Thunderbird was too good to pass up. My XJ is still looking and driving pretty (after 2 accidents) thanks to my upgraded front and rear bumpers...Should have got an XJ from the start...

Doix, i was kind of the same way when i first got my xj. thought it was just to mint to offroad..look at it now. :D

youll get it sooner or later
I know, I know...the sad part it the M3 is sold, but not gone yet, and I'm already feeling it towards the Jeep. I'm sure by fall I'll be ripping it apart!

I have a strong feeling that I will always have a JEEP in my collection from now on.

My first car, since I'm only 16, is my Jeep. But I've basically inherited the Ram listed in my sig. Since gas is so crazy, my mom started driving my Jeep around since it gets 20mpg and I started driving the Ram (13mpg). It's a good deal but payin' for gas sucks especially since it needs mid-grade (damn Hemi)!

the most POS '85 ford ranger you can imagine. it had a carb'd 2.8l V6, 5spd, 192k+ miles, twin 17 gal tanks, long bed, tons of rust and dents, white top, hood and tailgate, brown body. but it could haul three dirtbikes and gear with the tailgate closed so i was happy. i think everyone should have a beater as a first car.

I suppose I might as well share all the rigs I have had:
01 Dodge 2500 Diesel--Work truck
95 XJ (currently have)-DD
78 GMC Jimmy (project/wheeler, D60 front and rear, 44 swampers, camo paint, sale in progress)
88 Nissan Pathfinder (project, soon to be sold)
91 YJ (traded for XJ)
95 Toyota SR5 Pickup (caught on Fire)
88 Bronco (sold)
88 Bronco 2 (sold)
91 Comanche (project)
69 F-100 2x4 (bought when I was 15,sold for same as paid for, had 390 V-8, no mufflers, and a loud beast)

Unfortunately, I do not have pics for half of those rigs. currently working on getting a 97 VW Jetta GLX VR6, to save some gas. Trying to keep the XJ for a weekend wheeler, or road-tripper, and also keeping the work truck
