I'm all about saving money. I would rather take the 1/2 step(LSD) vs. The locker(which has potential to break things). I'd go full lock, f&r, w/bigger axles if it weren't a dd.

Im not too worried about breakage on 32's. Ive got trail spares if I do though. I wouldnt waste money on an LSD honestly.

I see where this is a possibility, but a little tug, and I can drive away instead of pulling out the hi-lift and spare shaft.

I have to admit, I don't need the locker. You guys wheel way more and way harder than I do. You're probably better off with a locker, but how many shafts are you willing to break. At some point you realize 'I coulda bought a bigger axle with how much I've spent on this D30.'

We are not talking about a D35 here, man. Theres plenty of people running locked 30's very reliably, even ibjeepins only broke a couple shafts running 35's. Breakages happen but I wouldnt consider a d30 to be a weak axle within reasonable tire size.

There are a lot of experiences I haven't had. I don't wheel my rig lookin' to push it to its limits. I find my joy in showing up the non-Jeeps, which is pretty easy wheelin'.
If it makes you feel better, I'd say you talked me out of wasting the $ on an LSD

Its all good man, my main motivation is the guys I wheel with are locked f/r, and having open diffs has really made certain obstacles a lot harder than they should be. So I have been long overdue a good locker lol

On a '60's Bronco w/ 9"rear & D44 front, is the front diff on the correct side for an XJ.

This. I'd rather break shafts then get pussed ad floor it and break other stuff
And as far as as many shafts I don't have a problem I get them at work for $5 a peice or $40 with a good unit bearing

Sent from my xj
