Trying to upgrade to new JEEP CHEROKEE

I have a 2001 XJ that needs probably about 500$ that needs to go into it. I need new tires, new muffler/tailpipe, the oil pressure sensor is out, the transmission hasn't been serviced in at least 100,000 miles. and it has 199,000 miles on it.

The transmission is kinda sluggish now and seems like it delays when shifting.

I have figured now since i have the money I might as well get another cherokee instead of putting hundreds of dollars into this jeep now.

On craigslist I just found someone selling a 96 cherokee AS IS. It says it runs great has no problems, it used to be a conservational police vehicle, and it has 84,000 miles on it. they are asking $2500. Any thoughts/comments??? As it used to be a conservational police vehicle I assume it is mostly 4x4 miles, and I have heard that can have harsh wear on the transmission.

What are your thoughts?

It happens. I'm still upset for not buying a 92 wagoneer laat year because it had 20" spinners.

Guy only wanted $1500 for it with like 90k on the clock.

Most people don't understand how we use vehicles assigned to patrol. This vehicle has likely idled for long periods of time, chased bad guys to wherever they have run, taken long steetches of back roads and highways and not been well washed after being used offroad.

I have been wondering, do you have any videos of your Jeep in action or with all the lights on?
