My buddies zombie jeep that's in my build thread has that orfab armor and it looks great and fits just right but it is a pre97. Maybe they need to advertise the problem. Did you contact orfab?
Not yet, probably won't as I'm sure they're aware of it. I might do what ibjeepin said and cut it then flap disk it.

And re-paint it.

Ya, that's too far to have to go to solve the this. Looking at your pic, I'd say cut it at the holes and leave an inch or so to protect the tail light. Maybe try to leave the ORF on and wrap it around the light.

So far it doesn't bother me, but honestly bending it around seems less worth it and harder to accomplish (quality wise) than simply cutting it and smoothing it out.

You wouldn't bend it while their on the rig. Can you pull the screws, or are they taped also?

I'm aware of this, however it's thick plate steel, to get a nice bend (that also looks nice) is going to be a lot of work, plus it will most likely crack the powder coating and I will have to repaint it.

They are bolts, not screws. 9/32" bolts with washers (to disperse the weight) and nuts on the inside of the quarter panels.

You know.. Looking at the picture of the black xj on the last page, his is a 97+ and looks like it fits a whole lot tighter. Maybe you could try shifting the whole panel forward until you like the tail light clearance, and if anything interferes with your rear door closing, trim it down in front of the door until you have no clearance issues with opening/closing.

It's a bummer they need so much extra work to be fitted, because they really do look amazing.

There's at most a 1/4" space left before the rear doors probably less IIRC.

That's not a 97+, the rocker tails are behind the tires. '97+ doesn't have them, the rear bumper goes there.

Ok, I see the rounded edge on the hatch. Anyway, the ultimate solution is to give them to my '95

I have a set of struts off the ZJ. All I need to mount them is a notch cut in the lip on the side of the hood, and mount the receiver. Then I can buy replacements at O'reilly's.

Ya, and the struts have the bracket attached by J-Joint. This is looking like a damn easy mod for all of us. The only piece we need is the silver zirk looking part the other end attaches to. It's the same piece our hatch struts attach to.
