So, Finally decided to make a build thread for my XJ.
Anyways, I've owned three Jeeps (two ZJs) since I was 18. The first was a 94 5.2 ZJ in absolutely perfect shape with 93k miles, garage kept, undercoated, absolutely amazing. It stayed stock, and 3 months to the day was totaled by a drunk driver and I began my search for another Jeep.
Two weeks later I was in my 96 ZJ, 114k miles, had her for about a year and a half. This one I actually modded. Until the transmission gave out and I didn't have the money to fix it, at which point it was scrapped.
When I got it:
Before it got scrapped:
Which brings me to the XJ:
I drove around in my dad's cavalier while trying to find a new Jeep:
Looking good man!! Props for not letting a junked motor cause you to give up on it. Sometimes ya just gotta dig in and get your hands dirty. Good job bruhhh!
Having some trouble with the middle two exhaust manifold bolts, I can't seem to get them to thread at all. Maybe my manifolds are warped? Though they're on the stud and everything else is lined up I don't think it's that. Going to try wire wheeling the **** out of the bolts and see if they'll thread then.
Awesome to see the motor in! Hope mostly everything is going well with the install. I would check the threads and see if they are warped or are gunked up with stuff.
I've had it running since last night, when it runs it makes a noise that sounds like it's coming from the valve cover. Friend and I aren't 100% sure the camshaft position sensor is in the right spot, could this cause issues? It sounds like it's coming from the #6 cylinder. Other than that it is running pretty well.
Ahhh. Was on break at work and was going to go to the gas station to get cigarettes and the starter wire pulled away from the battery. Going to fix it on my lunch break.
Other than that she's running beautifully, now I should just come up with a name for her. New guts, new personality, y'know?
Seriously doubt it's those, I know the rear-most exhaust stud is missing, hence my assumption that it's an exhaust leak.
