I'm not happy about it, but $150 to have new mounts on both sides of the axle is a damn good deal.

A welder is coming, I just need to find a used one on craigslist or something.
You should have them weld mini skids on and box the upper control arm mount as well...

May wait until I buy my own welder and do that, don't like paying shops tons of money if I can avoid it. That is a good idea though.

On mine I had a stock E-fan that runs all the time and that works great for normal driving. Then if you get hot offroad I had a Ford SHO fan 2 speed... that was pretty good really, but mine was used and had a bit of an off balance to it So i swapped to an Audi turbo fan, which is a bit more powerful than the stock E fan. Look at PSC though, the people who make the hydro steer, they have some nice fan set ups. and while your their do a trans cooler. I didn't do one and I really need one and I'll have to go back and fix it, so much easier to do it all at once.

Do you have cooling probems?

I seem to see more problems with deleating the mechanical fan then not... IMO a good 3 row radiator and a properly maintained cooling system works perfectly fine, is simplier and much more cost effective.

Heh, do I ever.

Heat soak issues when the engine is hot, who bunch of crap, rad is new, flushed the cooling system late last year.

I need injectors (heat soak) and more cooling (or hood vents).

E: Surprised you think that the stock cooling system is good, as XJs are notorious for overheating and having ****ty cooling systems.

I have never had a cooling issues wheeing in Kansas summer heat (~105F) on 33s, 35s and 4;56s... and many times when I see people chasing cooling issues they go to e fan conversions and still have problems. but I have also heard of the heat soak issues problems with the "newer" xjs, mines a 98...only mods are e fan swith to turn on at anytime and CSF 3 row radiator

Have you pressure checked your cooling system?
Stant pressure cap? (OE spec)
Replaced water pump?
Replaced thermostant (OE spec)

Yeah, at the time it was fine. Mines a '00 so I have the ****ty 0331 heads and terrible heat soak issues.

whitexj98, new OE radiator, 180* thermo, water pump, cap, hoses, and flush last November (in the OP).

I am curious about how that fan on the oil cooler works, there is a plug but no wiring harness. Hmmm. Ideas?

Hood vents did wonders for me. I have yet to see 210 since I installed them.

I hope you have a steady hand. There's not a lot of room for mistakes doing it that way. The finished product does look great though.
