Thinking of a change...

Hey guys, been a while since I've been on the forums... Thinking of getting rid of my 2000 XJ. My intentions were to make her a wheeler, but it has been my daily driver for a few years now.
Anyway, I am still wanting a XJ, just looking for a clean 2.5l 5 speed.... My old '99 was beautiful black 2dr. Had @ 4" lift. Was perfect for me and the amount of driving I did. Until some drunk asshat KO'd me and totaled her out.
So anyone see any for sale anywhere? Needing some help. Thanks.

SOLD-'98 TJ 4 banger 5 speed, 4.88's, Hp 30 ARB'd, S35 w/Detroit and truss, RK LA's, Kilby skids and LOTS of other junk. Should have kept it!
Traded for my XJ - '98 ZJ was pretty and built at one time- Hp30, 8.8 and 5" lift and other stuff.

Same question. A friend of mine wanted the 2.5L for a change, his other wheeler was a 4.3l blazer and he thought the 4cyl would be a change. He had it for 2 wheeling trips, both of which he ended up losing power on a hill climb. Next thing I know, we're swapping in a 4.0.

I'm sure the 2.5l is a good engine, but the 4.0 is proven tried and true.

Why not just swap a stick in? Don't see why you want to sell your XJ for another one.

2.5L no bueno in an XJ. It's a 4.0 with two cylinder missing. Just as reliable but not enough power to move it around very well IMHO.

Posting has been up for a couple weeks, maybe theres a good deal to be had at this point?

Reason is, I'm done wheeling. Love my xj's... Just want to get the better mpg. My old '99 got18 city,27+ hwy with the lift and 30x9.50's... My 4.0 is terrible on fuel with the 4.10's and 31's.
