Alright so Ive been on JF for a while now and have done a ton to my jeep since I bought it but kept forgetting to start a build thread so I will start one now and will make a few posts about what I have done to it soon. With a few pictures, hopefully I can find some before pictures. And Also what I plan to do in the near future so if youd like stay tuned for updates on my yet to be named jeep
After having the jeep for about a year I decided to invest in the 5" lift kit by rocky road outfitters. I wasnt too impressed with them though took a while for the company to actually send it and it seemed that some of the items included in the kit were for their 3 inch lift. But it did what I needed it to do.
Me and some friends of mine put the lift on the jeep and it took about 1 week. It was the first time we had done anything like that but it was a ton of fun and totally worth it!
I ordered the frame stiffeners and long arms from TnT customs. The belly pan was kind of annoying with all the drilling we had to do but it was not too bad.
During the same time we installed an SYE kit from rugged ridge.
edit: I forgot to mention the D window rims I got on craigslist, all 4 of them for 100$ woo! Also while putting the lift kit on we lost a socket in the unibody of the jeep and there was no way for us to get it out. Now its forever sealed inside since the stiffeners are on lol. To this day I can hear it rattle when I go offroading
After the trip above ^ I heard a light knocking in the engine so I figured it was time to take it apart and re-tighten everything inside as well as paint my valve cover yellow.
At the same time we cut holes in my hood for my hood vents that I got at FN Jeep here in colorado. They were off of an older jeep, not 100% sure exactly what I want to say a YJ.
With the left over paint I did my center console yellow also
Thanks man. Ya I can totally understand why people wouldnt like the yellow it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb, I'm not planning on doing too much else yellow, maybe a little accent yellow on some parts that I replace, and when I eventually get it repainted, but its going to be all truck bed lined black I think. So it will be a bit harder to get anymore yellow on the outside. The center console was more of just for fun, I have a spare one and thought id paint this one yellow and see how it looks haha
Tonight I put in some new fuel injectors upgraded to 4 hole injectors got all 6 on eBay for 100$ couldn't pass it up. Started the jeep and it already feels a bit smoother.
The green are the new ones, I took pictures of the item numbers on the side in case anyone is interested, I believe the person on eBay has some more sets available I can post a link if anyone is interested!
While I had it out I thought I'd paint the fuel rail yellow, didn't have enough time to let it sit long enough to dry real well so it kinda messed up but oh well, had to have it in to get to work in the morning haha
I forgot to mention earlier in my thread that while we were putting the lift kit on we put on rear disc brakes as well, they make a huge difference in stopping power, and have saved my jeep more than once driving here in Colorado with our crappy drivers! Also I got them super cheap at fnjeep the whole setup for 100$ if memory serves me right, all we had to do was use a dremel to open it up a bit more to fit on my 8.25 rear and they were ready.
I used some spray to get wax and grease off first then duplicolor plastic primer paint as the base after then, rusoleums farm equipment yellow, just the spray can worked pretty good, then I went over it with a coat of duplicolors yellow clear coat stuff. If your planning on doing it make sure to give it enough time between coats, I don't think I did And the paint has been pretty sensitive its getting better but it would have been wise to give it more time. And I didn't think about it till after but It might have turned out a bit better if I sanded it a bit to roughen/smooth it a bit. But it came out decent I think.
