Squeaky rear seat?

Anyone have a problem with the rear seat squeaking when no one is sitting in it? I haul passengers quite often so leaving the seat folded down isn't a viable option. The sound is coming from the passenger side bracket for the seat back that locks it into position. Anyone else have this problem and if so, what was your solution? Many Thanks!

Loud exhaust and cowl air intake and you will never hear it again.
Mine does the same, and I have tried many things, but with time it starts again.

Looking for quieter, not louder if you know what I mean. Two of my passengers are elderly ladies and I dont think they would like it very much!

Grease on the things it latches onto on the floor and up in the things it locks into on top.

Thought about that too, but would like to keep the grease outside the cab. Grease is like anti- seize with me......one drop multiplies into a mess!

Nah iv had it in my jeep for awhile and it's never gotten on anything else. I'm use to detailing G classes for $200 a pop I know detail.
Anything that would stop that metal on metal contact should work. I'm pretty sure from the factory there was grease on them.

I jammed a few rags under the seat to make the latch tight.

How does an elderly women get in and out of a Cherokee?

The upper latches on the back seats squeak. They did some slightly greased from the factory. I put a few loops of electrical tape around mine and it fixed it.

Silicone spray. Its clear, non messy and works well inside the jeep. Or it could be missing the lil rubber bumpers inside the latch.

I cut up some strips of duct tape and layered it around the latch arms on the seat so every piece of metal had some tape on it. Its still quiet and I did that months ago.

Since the tape is on the part of the latch that is on the seat, once its folded back up you don't see the tape.

I layered electric tape around the posts and that solved it for me.

I followed your suggestion bluejunior with the electrical tape around the posts and so far there is a marked improvement. Thanks!
