So lets see if I will get pulled over.

I have bought a new 12V jack plug in that I am going to mount in the rear of my rig. I also have spliced some christmas lights with a 12V end.
I am going to wrap the lights around my roof rack haha. I get bored and these are the type of thoughts I have. Its going to be good for the chrismas season.

So do you think the coppers will give me a hard time when I roll around dressed as Santa and my jeep as my sleigh.

Haha agreed. I had my gorilla costume set up on my passenger seat and the mask over the head rest. I got pulled over for that because they thought it was actually someone in the costume trying to piss ppl off or something. When he came to my window he just laughed tho.
Here is what it looked like.

As long as you're not using red or blue lights you should be ok, although your state could have some weird laws about it, but odds are you're fine.

I will haha. The local cops love me. I get pulled over for every thing I could ever think of but never ticketed. They even wave to me in my town now haha

A $10 inverter from Walmart will do just fine as even a 250 light string won't be more than 75W. No need to worry that way about starting a fire because you're trying to use 12DC on a circuit designed for 110VAC. OP, please go get a cheap inverter and do it properly. I'd rather not come on here the day after Christmas and see a thread about your Jeep having burned to the ground.

The inlet and the outlet are both 12V. They come in a wiring pack. It would be doing it properly because its adding a new jack hard wired to the rear. If it wasn't right they wouldn't make it.
We have ran the same set up in my buddies trucks for years for adding an outlet. Not Christmas light but you understand. They also make 12V Christmas lights. I picked some up from west marine earlier.

Ah, ok. I see. They're actually 12VDC lights to begin with. That makes more sense.

Those lights are rather rare, though. 99.9% of the rest of us would only have access to the standard 110VAC type.

Sorry to ride your *** about it. The way I read it was that you were going to try to use 110VAC lights direct wired into your 12VDC power outlet. If they're 12VDEC Christmas lights, it's all good.

[EDIT] And to help clarify things : I wasn't harping on you about running a new 12V outlet in the back of the Jeep, I was worried about you trying to use 110V lights directly off the 12V source.
