settling the v8 zj coil swap one and for all

ok i have seen that there is some debate about the zj v8 coil swap and how much lift you actually get from the spring. well i would like to settle it once and for all....

first off i work at a shop called Jeeps Unlimited. we are primarily a salvage yard but also do custom builds and service/parts as well. My boss has been parting jeeps for over 25 years and the this information comes from him

We discovered recently that every v8 zj WITH THE TOWING PACKAGE that we have parted out has had the upcountry springs even if the buyer did no ask for them. When swapped into an xj THE V8 UPCOUNTRY coils are what net the 2-2.25 inches of lift. This information has lead me to believe that people that netted only 1-1.5 inches of lift only swapped in coils from a v8 zj that was not an UPCOUNTRY or not one with the TOWING PACKAGE Hope this helps

Yea sorry but maybe if they are new you might get that. I know mine are the tow pkg upcountry coils and they gave me not quite an inch.

I got 1" or a little less lIft from a set of V8 ZJ coils. They made the ride a bit stiff too, and with the cost of the ZJ coils and a set of spacers I was way better off just buying a set of 3" lift coils for 99.00 that were the correct spring rate for the XJ.

Found a guy parting a 98 5.9 local. He told me $40 with stock isolators. Worth it? Ideas on how much lift?
