Selling your XJ?

How many people here DD their XJ & are actually selling it due to high gas prices?

I'd rather sell my Durango first ... it burns far more gas.
I think ...

And it's not nearly as much fun as my XJ

Besides, if I was worried about gas prices I wouldn't have 2 gas hogs sitting out front

gas getters arent fun to drive and are annoying. id hate to drive something everyone else on the road has. i drove a camry once (friends car) because she needed me to drive it to her house and my xj was at her house anyways so i did it. man that was the most boring drive of my life, and it was only 5 minutes.

Well when it comes to fun vs. being able to afford gas?? Hmm, which wins? I guess it ALL depends on what you want and can afford to be honest.

Sure the getter's aren't as fun as your DD Jeep, but at the point when it's $4.50 per gallon (It already is in same areas of the US) I could care less about fun at that point... and drive the FUN for FUN, but back and forth to work or whatever...

Well the getter wins for me. Again for me

I actually am selling the focus I was driving and am now DD the XJ. Yeah the MPG sucks compared to the focus, but now I now longer have a car payment nor a need for full coverage insurance so they work out.

Yup good point. I too haven't paid on the XJ for so long it's silly... that is why I am not going for a getter, but I tell you what. Living in NC and the weather the way it is, warm for so long... I'm so tempted to pick up a cafe cruiser type motorcycle!

Never would I sell mine.

But I did just go and buy a Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel... it gets better gas mileage than my XJ.

And we still have our little comuter car that gets 35 mpg.

It's really mathematics. If you have a $300 car payment on something getting 30mpg and no car payment on something getting 18mpg, you have to drive a lot of miles for the gas mileage to effect your money situation.

definitly all depends on point of view. as stated above, i was ready to drive off a cliff in the camry. when i floored it, it accelerated as fast as i do in my jeep when i give it less than half throttle. it was so slow it almost drove me insane. and i thought my xj was slow..

if i did get a comuter, id buy an old beater tempo or neon. one that i can still have some fun with and i wouldnt need to worry about payments or nothing. i wouldnt go out and buy a brand new car just to save gas. thats just me though. plus once the beater would die, i could have some more fun with it and crush it with my xj

You can pry mine from my cold, dead hands. Oh, and my g/f's TJ, too. I'm by no means independently wealthy, but I don't care how expensive gas gets.

I'm not going to sell mine due to gas prices, but for personal reasons. Hell, I might be out from Jeeps all together before long.

I think I'm actually thinking selling my motorcycle because of gas prices, not the xj. The bike can get about 40 mpg, but I have to pay $260/month for it. Plus it just gets too hot here to even want to ride it.

my jeep has the confused prerunner syndrome....4.5" in the rear and 2" in the front.
