Saggy Rear

Is your stock leaf springs sagging? I am told the stock distance from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender is 17". With no load I have 16.5". At what point is a AAL a waste of money and time? If I add a 2" aal will I get 2" from stock or the existing height?

2" from existing height, if that. you could do an AAL, but you would be better off with a bastard pack.

? An AAL will get you 2" over stock. I've got a 94 with a 2.5" AAL sitting in between the stock springs with 1.5" shackles, and it certainly gave me what it was advertised. I would only recommend running it until it sags, which probably won't be super long, but it's a cheap fix.

I wouldnt waste money on an AAL

You can buy a set of S10 springs (or another set of XJ springs) and put them with your springs making a bastard pack, that way with used springs they have already lost most of their temper (allready bropken in) and wont sag much from where you get it at.

Do a search for bastard pack, and read up on it.

I bought a second set of XJ springs and added to my springs I got 3" (and a very comfortable ride)

I would not recogmend blocks, but shackles are a good option and they will give you a better angle also

my stock springs sagged a ton.....i was down to like 15.5" between the center of the wheel and the flare, it was bad and because i do a lot of lugging around heavy stuff and towing on the farm i picked up another set of XJ springs and made a bastard pack.....i cut the eyes off the second set of mains and mixed all the springs except for 1 set of the 4th (littlest) springs, so i went from 4 leaves per side to 7.....it has way more carrying capacity and put me 1.5-2" overstock height......AAL's put you over your existing height, not stock and will sag over time.....after using a 3" AAL on my brothers XJ and now after 3 years having it be only about 1.5" over stock i wouldnt use one again

here is mine with the bastard pack on 235/75/15's

Here's mine sitting on 2.5" AAL and 1.5" rear shackle, used with stock leaves from 94. I knew it wasn't a permanent solution, but it definitely got the job done for now. Fits 32's comfortably with stock flares - although I plan to trim soon.

I definitely wouldn't recommend AAL as a permanent solution - in fact, before this kit I was really anti-AAL; however, I've been pretty impressed with how it did. Once that baby starts goin, though - I'm upgrading to full leaves, and probably stepping it up to 5" while I'm at it
