Replacement Speakers - Please Humor Me
Alright, I picked up a pretty clean XJ a month or two ago, and the only problem that I've discovered so far is that the stock speakers are really hurting (it actually only has 3 speakers, the driver's side door speaker is missing). All three speakers rattle, buzz, and and hum when the volume is turned up at all.
Obviously the speakers all need replacing, and that's where you guys come in...
I know it's probably been covered a million times (tough, I don't feel like searching), but I'm looking for some decent, economical, replacement speaker options. I don't want to spend too far over $100 to replace them all, so that gives you something to work with.
I'm also looking for some recommendations for good websites to find deals on audio components. All I know is Crutchfield, and they seem to be fairly pricey.
Thanks in advance.

Even economical speakers cost about 65-100 a pair. Pioneer is a decent choice; they are a bit 'bright' but that's a good thing in a noisy Jeep. Infinity also makes decent speakers in that price range. Crutchfield is a good source; their prices are rasonable and they don't sell anything really crappy. Skip Walmart and the like, you'll hate the results.

The technical advice you get from me here is worth exactly what you paid me for it. Warranty issues will be reimbursed at double what you paid me for the advice.

Are you running a stock HU or aftermarket CD player? How much do you want to spend? If you want to spend some money seperate components will sound the best but they can be pricey, you probably want to power them with an amp, and its more work overall (running wires, hooking up crossovers etc...) Personally i would just pick up a set of coaxials and be done, they will work well if you have a stock HU or aftermarket. Infinity makes a nice set but are somewhat expensive and will be a little "bright", soundstream makes a few nice lines (tarantula and picasso) that should cost less than infinity and sound pretty good.
Here is an amazon link with a bunch of 5.25" coaxials

I have an aftermarket Alpine headunit. The rest of the components are stock. As I said in the original post, I'm not looking to spend too much over $100. I don't need anything out of this world in terms of quality and I'm not really interested in component speakers or in adding amps or subs. Just looking for some decent quality replacements for what is already there. I'm hoping for something with nice tone and a clean/clear sound. I wouldn't mind something with a little punchy bass for the rear speakers.

Understood, thanks.
I guess I am kind of looking for specific recommendations because I don't really know much about audio or which brands/products are good.

I have sony 4way speakers in the front and rear sound bar from wally world. they do good with and without an aftermarket stereo. you're not going to get good bass without a sub/amp in a jeep.

For less then 100 for 4 speakers your not going to really get anything that approach quality. you may find some wally world ones or a local shop with ones for bout 30 but they wont sound great to begin with and will only last a year or two if your really easy on them. For mid quality and clear sound but still something with in bout 50 to 60 for a pair is pioneer and those will last a few years if your easy on them. For a little punch in the rear my buddy has a set of fusions and they were 65 or 75 I can't rember their pretty punchy and have handled the abuse he has handled out which is alot for a bout a year and are going strong.

I bought 40$ Apline 5.5's for the front and 80$ Sony xPlode 6x9's in the back. But I also picked up a nice 130$ Kenworth stereo because my stocker didn't even have a CD player lol. If you want to know the specific brands let me know I can dig up the boxes.

My 1990 cherokee uses the 5.25" speakers in all four corners. I bought the Sony explode speakers from Wal-Mart for $40 a pair. They have done me very well for the last three years.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. That was the kind of info I was looking for.
Does anyone know if I could use these Polk's all the way around? I know it may require a little modification to make them fit, but is it even possible?
