Yeah the whole apples are better than oranges argument is stupid. Each have theyre pluses and minuses and if you havent owned both you dont have an opinion.

My TJ was way better on tight trails (98% of what I wheel) My XJ like driving a school bus in the woods sometimes!! And everytime I see someone crusin with theyre top and doors off I want to cry!

But when it comes to room and everyday practicality, the XJ wins hands down. ESPECIALLY if you have a family. The whole reason I got rid of my TJ is that when you had to haul anything bigger than a beach ball you were screwed.

Ive owned both and if I had to choose Id take an XJ any day of the week! Just my two cents

i'm a dual owner. wifes got a runbi lj, and i sold my built rubi to get a house and a xj.

loved the tj some days and hated it other. love the xj when its raining or really cold out but i do miss the top down doors off cruising of the tj. i really miss the 4to1 low range and lockers but i can add those to the xj. i haven't run into a spot were either would have done better then the other. ran alot of rausch creek last year in the rubi tj(33's, 3" lift, lots o lights and armor) and had no issues and ran the same trails this year in the xj(31's, 4" lift and lots o armor) and only got hung up cause of REALLY bad line choose. wife loves to tell everyone she has the bigger rig(33", 3" lift, ruibcon) but i tell her i can pick a better line and follow her anywhere she goes. still waiting to test that statement yet.

RIP Keith Andrus 1985-2010 you will be missed buddy

I love my TJ, there's nothing quite like running topless and doorless, but do hate the lack of cargo space. So I won't even try and show you up there. But for those trips I need more space I can just drive the XJ, she'll always be my first love anyway.

If I could have afforded it. I would have bought a Unlimited. Four doors plus removable top (seen a hard top that was removeable today while filling up, talk about nice).

I love and miss my TJ's more then any other rig. An XJ is OK, but as I drive my XJ around I really stare at all the TJ's and miss the soft top and no doors...Then on the trail I have always found the visibilty much better in the TJ.

I have 4 new zone hydro shocks for sale...PM for a price.

Since it was brought up - the passenger area in my wife's Libby is much larger than my XJ. The trunk space not so much. Because the trim is so much bulkier although the cubic ft is possibly larger I can fit larger items into mine. Like a bike with out scratching the be-jeezus out of the new jeep. And KJ/KK < XJ.

I think us MJ's owners have both XJ's and Wranglers beat in this department

frame > unibody
I've had a cj and i've had an XJ, I don't think i'd ever trade my CJ for any
thing, but it would be nice to have an XJ in the winter. Oh and I don't worry about cargo space, I took my back seat out and replaced it with a big metal box for recovery gear and tools.. as long as the dog can ride with me i'm good.

I would rather have a real Jeep with a hitch basket than a glorified station wagon. Also I removed the rear seat of my YJ, rhino lined the whole cab, it can haul 10x more **** than any XJ and is much more trail capable. I would never want a unibody.

You know guys, to be honest, my dream garage features a 2009 Patriot with FDII and a 2009 JK Unlimited, both in green, the JK with the hard top, lifted 2.5" with nice bumpers front/rear with Hella's and IPF's all around. Can't help it!

what your words might start a war. An xj is a real jeep btw and id take my xj over any tj around because i own it. At 17 that is saying alot. So to say that our xj's aren't jeeps is a load of crap.
