Re-Painting Your Windshield Wiper Arms

My wiper arms are faded and chipped and are the originals I am pretty sure. I wanted to re-paint them but I was just wondering if there is a special type of paint you should use on your windshield wiper arms? I know that you can use flat black from a spray can, but is there a special type of paint out there that might last longer?

Maybe add some light sanding and some spray on promoter then prime and paint.

No different than any other metal you're painting on the exterior. Personally I'd use an enamel and clear coat it since they're not going to get scratched or anything and they're going to sit out in the sun.

I took mine off, sanded them, put on 2 coats of paint and not a chip sense and that was 2 summers ago. So that worked well for me and it was stupid easy

Seems like a bit much unless you have the access to the supplies for cheap... You can always pull em and paint em

I did the same, about 6 months ago and they still look as good as the first day I did it.

Ok, yeah I will probably just do the basic sand - prime - paint (Flat black) then haha!

Also, I haven't really looked close enough but are the wiper arms hard to get off?

No they shouldnt be at least... Idk if they changed in 97 with the exterior or not but you pull the arm back and use a screwdriver to lift a tab upwards so it holds the arm and then loosen it off the splined gear it rests on... Haynes manual can give a better explanation and it will have pics
