That's what I'm leaning towards.

I'm thinking 4.10s with 33s?

Any particular reason for that suggestion? One I the big reasons that I would do 4.10s is because I could find a d30 with then stock and maybe an 8.8

You would be more happy with 4:56s then 4:10s especially if you ever go up to 35s. I was on 33s then 35s with 4:56s and I find it very acceptable. I would also try to find a HP30 to build up with the 4:56s if you do.

Makes sense. And if I end up finding axles with stock 4.10s, I can run those with 33s then upgrade with 35s. But I'll definitely look into 4.56

Went with the hp30 8.8 4.10 idea. Hit up the local JY and scored a 8.8 with 4.10 LSD and discs out of a 98 Eddie Bauer for $153. Pretty stoked there. Now to trace down a non CAD hp30 to match.

Yeah, I feel you. My biggest hindering factor is no longer having access to a full shop. But a buddy of mine has basically everything, so I should be good.

Forum friends;

I have run into my first conflicting issue for the 8.8 swap - brake lines. I have read everywhere and a half that people buy a second right-side brake line to put on left to eliminate the distribution block, then using the stock xj line, but I'm having trouble understanding.
The xj distribution block has has lines threaded into it that run into both drums. The 8.8 d.block is attached to the left soft line and then threaded into a hard line that is then threaded into the right soft line.
My question is.. If I swap the left for right soft lines on the 8.8, what would I thread it into?

If this helps:
8.8

8.25

Even though no one seems to be following this anymore, I'm still going.

Took the jeep to Big Lake and hit up the Hoodoo OHV there. Some of the tougher blue trails put me at a perspective of where my jeep sits and how well it can do.

Real sick of this happening though

Getting some work done on the 8.8 too.

Finally. High pinion 30 4.10 CAD. Going to do a 1 piece axle conversion and freshen it all up some.

Finally got the 8.8 in. I got access to a shop that a buddy of mine works in, and we knocked it out in an afternoon. But we were kind of pressed on time so I wasn't able to take very many pictures.

...halfway decent welds

Out with the old

In with the new.

Parts list:
Perches and shock mounts from IRO
u bolts and spring plates from IRO
brake line kit from ECGS
1310 flange adaptor from ECGS

First impressions:
A lot more get up and go with the 4.10.
Can stop on a dime with all discs. Just need a ZJ proportioning valve.
And since I used IRO brackets, placement and welding were a breeze.

What would I do differently:
Since the IRO perches have 3 center pin holes, and I set the as as far back as I could, it stretched the stock soft line to it's limits. And although now I have extended steel lines in the mail, I would have liked to have those before hand.
Other than that it went relatively smooth.
