quick question

Would it be an absolutely terrible idea to take my 2wd cherokee on the beach our could it handle it

air down a lot if you can drive slow don't get stupid or bring a friend with a 4wd and a tow strap and you should be fine

Stay on packed sand and air down. I've never had to put mine in 4wd at the beach, but where I go speed limit is 10 mph and you can only drive near the water.

4wd conversion isn't complicated on Cherokees. Basically need a 4x4 trans, tcase, drive shafts, bezel/console and shift linkage. There's other minor stuff depending on the year, but that's the big stuff. Much easier than on most trucks where you have to swap frames and such.
