Blocks combined with the larger tires they let you clear give the axle significantly more leverage to distort the springs under throttle.

Got some more done today. Gonna go back and 45 round tube from the top square to the bottom of the winch plate front and back to the bottom of the winch plate. It's welded on the bottom side, not just the top 2 visible welds, but I'll feel better with it being attached to more than just 2" of tube.

I'd also have gone with 3/4 shackles in hindsight and done them on the bottom, but oh well. Also right now it's only held on by 9 stock bolts. Going to weld 1/4" angle iron to the crossmember to strengthen the front 6 stock bolts and replace them with grade 8 hardware.

Looks good. I can't wait to see the finished progress. But I have one question how do cops not mess with you in va with tires sticking out ? Va nazis are worse then the cops in Maryland and Pa

The only law covering tire coverage applies to commercial vehicles. There's only a law for max wheelbase width. And the cops here are nowhere near as bad as MD or PA by a long shot. Maybe in NoVA but that's basically DC anyway.

Nobody has ever bothered me around here. There are plenty of other jeeps and trucks around that have tires sticking out as far as mine or further. The laws about tire coverage are the same in M D and VA.

Sent from under my Jeep.

I just thought of a used for your spikes if they are hollow you could slip them over the bolts for your winch and weld them to the winch plate so it does not get stolen

Still don't see the point in worrying about the license plate. How many people see yours on your vehicle every day?

They're solid. When I get the winch I'm not leaving it on all the time anyway. I'm not worried about **** getting stolen anyway. I almost never lock my doors and people tend to stay away from it given the gun stickers on it
