I can't say I haven't destroyed a NSS myself. The exhaust right there wreaks havoc on the setup which could use a heat shield.
With replacement in hand, the old one is expendable and can be taken off in pieces if necessary. Use due care not to damage the tranny shaft. I'd think a new one would come with the retaining nut, tabbed lock washer, and maybe a rubber seal washer as well.
Clean up the shaft and anti-seize before you put the new one on, and don't overtighten, torque spec is pretty light.

Been a while since I've posted. Sorry I've been super busy. I did a Bedliner 2 tone and made my doors easily removable so ill get some pic of all that tomorrow when it's light out. I suck at this build thread ****. Plans are to swap a set of 3/4 or 1 ton axles in and run leaf springs front and rear. One of my fav things about my cj was leaf springs now that I've run coils to. Plan is to use the stock lca mounts for the rear leaf spring mount and weld some shackle mounts up front maybe to the bottom of my bumper. Should be straight forward I did it on my Cj. I'm gonna stick to 3-4" of lift and probably 35s unless I end up with a 14 bolt rear then ill get 37s so I don't scrape every pebble I drive over. I should have kept the axles from my cj. I would have swapped them in already and already had rims and 37s. Oh well

Nice I'm in the process of making my doors easy to remove also. One question though . Why do you want leaf springs?

I can't wait to get rid of my coils. Well really I can't wait to get my full widths no matter how they get on. Cuz then I can get my 37s

Oh it will still be flexy don't worry haha. Flat leaf springs are hard to not be flexy. I'm gonna keep it low at around 4" with hopefully 37s but may go with 35s until I can afford the gears. I had 37s on 4.10s in my Cj and it wasn't horrible but I want mad torque with my xj. I want to build this thing right because I plan on having it as my dd through college and I'm still a junior in highschool. Currently saving up for the axles. My local junkyard sells a full axle hub to hub out of any vehicle for 150. 200 with brakes and 250 with wheels still on it. So I need 400 because I'm gonna try to get good brakes on them. Gonna look for 1tons and get them ASAP so I can build them up and have them ready to throw in the xj by summer
