post SANDY mess

ok so i have a 96 xj with 9.5 long arm snorkel 35's lockers dana 44 rear the whole deal. i built it from stock, i bought it from a senior that baby'd it and was the original owner. so before hurricane sandy hit i moved my wife's car and the work van to safe higher ground. by the way i live in NJ on a lagoon. i kept my jeep backed in the driveway and loaded the most important possessions we have (wedding pictures jewelry ect...) and left it as our way out if things got bad. well things got bad so fast we had to get to higher ground so we went into the neighbors house on the 2nd floor and watch our house fill with water and my jeep fill with water. to the point the cup holders were full.

so after the storm I had her towed to my parents house inland and found she did start but stalled replaced some sensors, battery, starter, altenator, wires, cap ect..... still have others to go so i decided to throw in the towel and found a stock 2000 with low miles. i am dreading ripping her apart and starting over. every time i see her i just get depressed but miss having a lifted jeep.

anyway i will rebuild her and hope to be ready for the PA JEEP show in the summer just dont know where to start.........

instead of leaving by jeep i waded pulling my wife in a kayak that drifted by.

i tried to use the jack stands i had but they are rusted to hell. it works for now. ill get a new set for the install on the 2000. hopefully it will be easier to install that it was to take off. salt water too a toll on it. I drained the axles and found some water in it but not much. cleaned them up today, will order new brakes this week. hoping to get the 2000 stripped saturday and then start the build sunday.

I'm hoping to make it, the lift is going on tomorrow. Cleared my weekend to get it done, hopefully no set backs. Re did all the brakes and am ready to strip the stock lift off and get wrenching. Things have been slow going the past few weeks. And know am pressed to get moving.
