I pulled these off my old 96 XJ that I gave my brother. He totaled it and I couldn't let the rims just sit there anymore. They were in BAD shape when I pulled them off, but I think that they came out nice after about 10 hrs of prepping, taping and painting. Here are some before and afters. Let me know what you think. BTW, the tires are getting swapped out for some BFG ATs in the 35" flavor.
It is Rustoleum Black night metallic. Three coats of the black and two coats of clear... I hated the look of them when they were all polished, but now that they are black they are growing on me. The lip is a brushed finish now. I sanded it with 80 grit to ruff it up an bit and get rid of the (dare i say) shiney surface. Now, no brake dust to clean up either. Glad you guys like them.
sure, it will be a while as they will be getting new tires mounted... I also need to find a set of center caps that will fit. The rims are made by MB Motoring but have been discontinued. So were the center caps.
here are a few before I trim and get the 35s put on them. Those tires are 235/75s for reference. I'll be doing the cut n fold in the back and trimming the fronts at the outside edge of the flares. What do you guys think of doing the quarters satin black?
lol, that pic makes the jeep look a 1000x better than in person. Its got plenty of battle scars. The lift is a homebrew of dodge dakota leafs outback, and up front it is 1.75" spacers and V8 grand cherokee UpCountry coils. It needs a new trackbar BAD and I am making some long arms and crossmember for it soon.
