I sure am glad they took the XJ in the direction they did. Would be a fun car to beat heavily on tho.

Has nothing to do with the Cherokee. The original Cherokee was based on the SJ Cherokees and design started in 79. A lot of the ideas for it came from trying to build competition for the S-10 Blazers too.

Oh and oddly enough you may see something similar in the near future. I know for a while Fiat was talking about releasing a Jeep car based on the Panda.
