Opinion requested on selling or modifying my bumper.

I am thinking about listing this bumper for $250 on my local CL. I'd put the cash towards a Smitty Built or JCR DIY winch bumper. Think I could get that kind of coin?

It's a home made bumper that the PO had built.

My other option is to cut the square tube a few inches in from the bull bar and make some vertical plates to sling a winch mount plate I already own. This would mount a few inches lower than the square stock cross piece like so

I really like that style bumper. I'm going to rebuild one for mine similar to yours. Is the only reason your selling to fit a winch?

Oh gotcha. If you do decide to keep your current bumper you could do something like this:

Personally I prefer the look of the one you have. The others look to bulky. I've never liked those larger style. Looks to overdone on an XJ. Tubes are the way to go.

I dont know if you've read the other threads where I've mentioned it, but here is my epic writeup on the XRC front bumper. I even scanned the instructions to PDF and put them up my site since I couldn't find anywhere else that had them.

Although that last one is a nice cross between the 2 styles. I would run that one also. Just keep away from the the snow plow looking bumpers.

Here is one I built, maybe 25 hrs in the fabrication. We were going to sell them, but have not this far. Very similar to what Phil posted.

Anyone think I can get $250 for the bumper on it now or should I just hack it up?

I have read it a few times. The rear bumper story is even more epic.

The thing looks good but it also looks like a canoe on the front of the jeep. Is it that huge or do you get used to it?

All the materials are 3/16 engineered with internal gusset, the tube is .120 DOM, the shackle mounts are 1◊1 bar stock sleeved in about 4 inches. We were looking at around $400 and option up from there. Even was going to sell parts in a DIY kit, but most can't fabricate and the hassle wasn't worth it.

More variations...

Those looks really good and a good variety of styling. I have to admit that since I have no flares the outer ends stick past a little further than I like. The approach angle looks great and I really like how the shackle mounts are raised up. I am leaning towards my bottom pic one but it's $700 or so.
