Well, ran into a bit of a snag today with the mounting, the transfercase handle bumps the vic if it is mounted directly centered uder the switch plate, so im thinking i might mount it offset to the right side a bit, Any thoughts? there really is no where else to put it

heres what it would look like

I have a few, especially since i just got one off ebay for .01

First, what are the dimensions of the unit, without tabs, WxHxD(with and without Plugs). Just the unit though, not your enclosure.

Was the seller you bought from located in Rhode Island?

Well the unit is not a perfect rectangle, the top, bottom and sides all have sort of an obtuse angle going where the two halves of the unit come together. I cut every thing off the sides of mine and the dimensions are: 8.5" x 3" x 2.5"

Gah! I was really hoping it would fit into a project box from radio shack and mounted similar how FitchVA did his switch box. But i thinks it just too wide to fit between the visors, as well as the box dimensions are 8x6x3.

Hmm... back to the drawing board.

Yeah its a weird shape for sure, and the 97-01 dash really makes it difficult to find a decent place to put it, plus i have the OHC, so i can't really try the visor area

What about removing the 12v outlet/switch panel and replacing it with the VIC? Rewire the switches to another location and put the 12v outlet elsewhere. One of my future possible projects is to remove the passenger ash tray in the back of the center console and create a "power station" there with a 12v cig. adapter, 110 plug and usb via rewiring a inverter.

Sorry guys, the vic project has been on the backburner for a couple of days, I'm having trouble with the wiring, and i cant find a decent place to mount it, plus I'm dealing with all the senior year of hs college stuff and whatnot

I also have another cool mod going on right now that I havn't seen before on JF or naxja so ill post that up when thats finished
