New to the XJs - transmission compatibility question

So...I have a 93 with a roached transmission. The local bone yard has one from a 95 with ~140K on it. How compatible are these units ?

Am I out of luck on a late XJ having a 5 speed auto that I could swap in ?

I searched and found a similar thread dealing with an earlier to later swap, and saw the output spline counts were different. Im hoping the 93-95 is a direct match. ( I know, weird, right? a noob doing a search )

Thanks in advance!

91-95 should be a direct swap. There are no 5 speed auto's offered in the XJ, All years have the AW4 auto, at least all years with the 4.0L.

Thank you, bud! Cool.

Anybody have an opinion on the longevity of these transmissions ? Im thinking about getting a bone yard one for now, and planning on getting the original rebuilt.
