Hey guys, Not new to the fourm i owned a 96 zj with 173000k and just sold it today. I had a 3.5" lift with 31s and loved everything about it. Well living in PA it rusted out all over the unibody. long story short i went wheelin one day hit a ditch and bent the unibody/destroyed the control arm mount. So i had to sell it. Guy came today picked it up for 1000. Affer being sad and depressed that my Jeep is gone i found this xj at a private dealership. Its a 98 cherokee classic 135000 miles with i think a 6" lift with 33" bfg m/ts. Aftermarket bumper with a rc 8000lbs winch. Adj front arms and seems like suspension is brand new and the unibody in perfect shape. Im paying 3500 and picking it up tomorrow. Now can you guys help me with what i have im new to xjs all together. Whats special about xj classic? And all together how much do you think this guy had into it? Good deal? it had alot of power on the test drive. That means its regeared with 33s? Anything else i should look into? Thanks guys looking forward to being apart of the xj family!

He probably has about a total of $2700 in it with lift, tires/wheels, bumper/winch, and possible gears.

Rough estimate....
Wheels/tires- $1000
Lift- $750-1000
Gears- $250 each so $500
Bushwackers- $250
Bumper/winch combo- $400-600

How did the steering feel? 6" of lift on stock steering :( did you notice an bump steer? I can't really tell in the pictures but looks like a short arm kit? Any death wobble?

Nice looking jeep. Congrats. I think you got a pretty good deal on it. How does it drive with the lift? Does it have the drop t case kit?

Thanks guys. Im picking it up at 4 today. The steering wheel is a little cocked and it drove fine no deathwobble at all. Not sure about the tcase drop i will let you know for sure when i look at it closer. It is a short arm set up. All adj arms tho

WOO light blue XJs... That looks like a great deal. I paid 2500 for mine stock and that was a good deal (at least around here). Best get to undercoating that thing to keep the same from happening again.

Alright guys day 3 of owning the xj. No tcase drop. All adj control arms. Rebuilt tranny for rockcrawling. Tranny cooler, duel fan set up,slip yoke eliminator, new front and rear driveshafts, 4.56 gearing, rhino lining interior, fabricated true 6" lift, bushwacker flares, ten series flowmaster muffler with 3" pipe, definitely done right. Completely undercoated underneath, and it drives great at 70mph :)

(Update) 7months later... 6.5" Rusty's offroad lift. I upgraded to iron rock offroad long arms in the spring. 4.88 gears. Upgraded to 35 12.50 km2s. I have a manual switch that locks the auto tranny in either first or second gear (for engine braking) installed wj leather heated seats, Xj overhead console and kc daylighted fog lights. Going back in time its crazy seeing how it was. I'm just glad Tyler was able to see it R.I.P Ratmonkey.... I'll try and get some pictures up
