New XJ Here... Lots of plans!!

Hey Guys,

Heard lots of good things about this forum and it's information. I bought a 2000 XJ about 3-4 months ago and have loved it since then. I currently just put on a JCR Front Bumper, Rock Sliders, Engine Skid, T-Case Skid, Gas Tank Skid, Rockcrusher Diff Cover and am waiting on a RockHard 4x4 Bumper w/ Carrier.

Prior to this XJ I had a 1993 Ford Ranger with 9" of Lift on 35's for about 4 years so I am not new to lifted vehicles and wheeling.

I plan on running a 6.5" Long arm kit w/ SYE 34" TrXus M/T's and cut out flatty fender flares, 4.88 gears (Detroit Rear Locker, OX Front Locker) Chromo Axles Shafts (Front/Back) all in preparation for MOAB in August 2012.

Is that running the 8.25 or the Dana 35? Can't tell with the muffler showing up so closely in the background.

Nice score on the XJ! What's up with the purple accents? ha-ha!

Nevermind I see it now from the other picture.

It is a 8.25

And the purple accents are just to give it some flare haha.. I was bored and decided to paint it

wow almost seems a shame to chop that up! XJ's that clean are getting tough to find. Id like to find one that clean, throw on a BB and daily drive that.

Your plans are close to what I had in mind for a built XJ. I've read that running 4.88's in the 30 isn't the strongest way to go.

I wouldnt get that kit if i were you.

Been there done that, the IRO long arms have essentially 1 10mm bolt for the upper link mount, not safe. And if you dont brake the bolt, youll brake the caster adjuster like i did. Heres a pic.

I like everything that IRO makes, except the long arms.... track bars, coil springs, etc are all good.

No offense, but who gives a **** what you read.

If youve never run it, then your opinion doesnt count.

What kit would you recommend? What do other kits use for that bolt location? Can I just drill out and upgrade that bolt to a larger grade 8?

Rock Krawler 3 link......3 link> radius arm.... If you have to stay with a radius arm, get the TNT long arms, pure beef, and the arms are super high clearence.

No, you cannot just drill out the bolt. There is a bushing that mounts on top of the axle, and the sleeve inside the bushing is very slim.

Like i showed in my picture before, even with a stronger larger bolt, you will still bend the caster adjuster.

Trust me on this, ive been there done that, dont go with that kit.

There might be some guys that have that kit and love it, but thats because they dont wheel.
