1996 cherokee w/ 4.0L H.O engine and im going to assume it is a AW4 trans which means 3.55 gears? This jeep is very clean and for sale by me and I was thinking of using it for a donor truck to replace the tired 4.2 and puejoet trans (who cares how its spelt its a pos!). It also would be nice b/c of the high pinion d30 w/ higher spline axles than my stock 87 wrangler. I know the d35 isn't the best axle in the world but mine is bent and shot and i will just use the xj one until I can afford to upgrade to a stronger axle. Ok so now my question: The price is listed at 2200, is this a worth donor truck for the parts? I'm only asking because I know nothing about xjs.

scrap your YJ and build the XJ

I considered that but I already have a good amount of stuff for my YJ and only really need drivetrain upgrades.. plus no top > permanent top in my opinion.

haha i only messing with ya! why dont u just go to a JY or harrys u pull and get the stuff u need? im sure it would be cheaper than 2200 and you wouldnt be ruining an XJ. your in jersey, there is a harry's u pull about 10min from me. right off rt22

x2, you could pay a lot less for a vehicle with a rusted body or just buying the parts from a yard. For 2200 its probably in pretty decent shape. You can even find good running 4.0's on craigslist for a couple hundred.
