I got questions for the recessed winch bumper i posted guys might help me out here. the winch bumper give you a option 1984-1996 option or 1997-2001 can i use the 1997-2001 option on my 1996 jeep cherokee? i like how the 1997-2001 wraps around the front and fenders.
Yeah i figure thats the only thing different i think it would look better anyways. cant wait to get it just waiting on the tax return into my account and then i put my order in. its a good bumper (looks like it is made well)
Why are Warn, Kevin's Off Road, Hanson, and other manufacturers $1300 for a rear with spare carrier, and $850 for a front, and the Nates are $450 and $355....????
I assume with this stuff (new to off-road parts) you get what you pay for, but the Nates stuff looks solid and well made. Maybe it is, maybe it is not. Can some one please set me straight that I need to spend a ton of coin, or can I save a ton of coin ???
Because they're ripping you off.
www.staangsfab.com has WAY better bumpers than warn and they cost 400$ instead of 900$ or w/e.
Its like an Audi TT. its just a squished VW Bug but they slap a ridiculous price tag on it and put a couple diaphram rings on the front and wow its so much better.
because those places are grossly over priced. jcr offroad also makes nice products at competitive prices. i wouldnt knock Nates just because of the price
Not totally true . . . ARB designs/tests their bumpers around the factory crumple zones. Not sure about Warn or the other big names, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the reason. R&D costs a lot of money.

Most of the time, these bumpers are cheaper because they don't take the time to form fit them to the XJ. I think all those Nates bumpers look like crap because they have huge gaps and don't follow any lines on the Jeep at all. Their front winch bumper sticks out a mile and looks like it could fit any other SUV the same way. Plus what does 'recessed' mean? I guess the winch is recessed in the bumper, but that doesn't make it jut out from the front end any less.
There are actually a lot of companies out there making XJ winch bumpers, but very few that make them look good. JCR, AJ's, Rigidco, Protofab and Hanson come to mind as making the best looking and functioning bumpers. I'd rather spend a little more and not have my Jeep look like someone just blindly welded some metal together to hold my winch up.
If you want a bumper that is low profile and tucks your winch in, plus is a pretty good price, check out the slikrok bumper from AJ's Offroad Armor.
I'm pretty sure this looks nice and forms to the shape of the XJ. That is why I bought it. Great guy on the phone, explained shipping and let me have the hardware kit for free for ordering over the phone.
alright guys i need help on deciding to order this bumper i like it alot and i think it works great. total is $463 I order a bumper in january for $215 and its basically tube bumper and recovery points i am not really happy with it because it leave huge gaps and it doesnt protect much in the front and sides. Now i decide i want a winch bumper and i am thinking about ordering a recessed winch bumper. I am going to really appreciate your guys input on this. again i really like the nates4x4 recessed winch bumper and i want to order it.
